Lenovo X220 Re-add support for 1866Memory possible?
#21
It's only a Memory Speed unlocking Trick !

https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/X-Series-Th...d-p/834329

From Bios v.1.29 above Lenovo locked RAM Speed so to get again higher speed was copied a Module Code chunck
to unlock as before RAM Speed !
No RSA Key replaced (there isn't any public RSA Key Lenovo or Others) and to reflash Bios Mod is used a
Winflash version Patched (DLL cracked = environment.dll) by Serg008 !

Memory Frequency Unlock (Xfd) :

54519AE4-C284-42A8-901C-AF2132999E32_16.ROM SandyBridgePhx.efi

1810 : 8B85C8FCFFFF8B480966C741013505C685C2FCFFFF0C to 660F1F4400000F1F00660F1F4400000F1F8000000000

That's all Mod !

Hello,

ofc there is RSA signature and SHA-1 checksums block at: 0x740048, RSA public key is located at 0x740A48. Make a HEX diff of modded and original BIOS. If RSA signature or any SHA-1 checksum is invalid and Security chip is enabled you will hear 2x5 beeps bursts on power on.

Yes TMP (Trusted Platform Module) :

http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Embedded_S..._Subsystem

TPM stands for Trusted Platform Module.
It's used to protect data on a computer, usually a notebook, from unauthorized access.

http://www.intel.com/design/mobile/platf..._Paper.pdf

Multiple uses, for example instead of typing in my password, I swipe my finger over the reader and it maps that to my password.
As others have mentioned there is also the TPM that is used for supporting other apps such as bit locker among others.

I don't know if Itis involved too on Whole Bios Check (as RSA Signture does into HP laptop), I haven't got a
Lenovo Laptop and not all have the TPM Chip, but I modded hundreds Bioses and only checks were done at
reflashing state, then I saw into Firmware the TPM strcture using Fitc (Intel tool) and many users ask about
bypass or remove It and I replied It's not possible !
But It's new for me that It is used to check only one Bios Module at startup . . .
I will explore this news to find more infos, but It's sure that I modified Bioses deeper to remove Whithelist and
Unlock Menu whitout get any Beeps or Errors, just bypassing the RSA error flashing (like You done using the
DLL Patched) !
Many thanks for your report, I will study more Wink

Hello,

BIOS has 2133Mhz code branch in memory initialization module, but looks like 2133Mhz is only supported by mobile XM Sandy Bridge CPUs, for other 1866Mhz is max.
