[request] Add Ivy Bridge Microcode to AIO Inspiron 2320 (H61 Chipset, BIOS A10)
#11
Hi, I have replaced your Intel Pentium microcode with Intel i5/i7 microcode

Run flash.bat in DOS

**WARNING**

It is expected that once you flash this bios mod, that once it is rebooted it will not POST.

When you update the BIOS then install your i7 CPU and it will then work, if you want to revert to your old CPU, run the stock BIOS update file.

Please report back.

I'm very excited to try this! I do have an appointment this afternoon and will have time to tear apart the computer this afternoon. I'll keep you posted on the outcome!

Thank you in advance!

Sorry for the delay, we have a sick family member and didn't get to this yesterday.

I created a USB DOS boot disk to flash this with. After booting to DOS, I flashed the BIOS, turned off the computer, installed the 3770k processor and rebooted.

Unfortunately, the power button still shows orange, the computer beeped four times and no boot.

I re-installed the Pentium G630 and it boots fine. I tried to re-flash the BIOS and grabbed a screenshot.

Did I miss something?

I've verified that the H61 supports the ivy bridge.

Sorry for the delay, appointments again today.

Here's the ROM dump. Any ideas on why it didn't work?

Hi, found the problem. There was a checksum error which caused the microcode region not to flash.

I have fixed it and fingers crossed this should work.

You don't need to open the computer to see if it works, if the computer still boots with the old CPU after BIOS mod then it hasnt flashed the microcode mod. You are hoping it doesnt boot with old CPU when flashed, this is when you install updated CPU.

Please report back.
