Bios Acer Aspire D255 Happy v. 3.16 Slic 2.1 + Menu Tabs Unlocked !
**********************************
I have "Bios Acer Aspire D255 Happy v. 3.16" and "Bios Acer Aspire D255 Happy v. 3.16 Slic 2.1" if anyone needs it, I can find a place to post it. However, I must say, that they look the same, with different names attached, and
they do the same thing...
Meanwhile, back at the farm ...
I've flashed my BIOS back and forth - IE: Flashed BIOS up to have the `advanced menus,` AND SUCESSFULLY flashed the BIOS BACK DOWN to have `NO advanced menu` options.
Once in a while, after a flash, on the `Security` tab, the password for HDD will say `LOCKED` and be greyed out... ignore that, with a re-flash, or in my case, I just ignored it, and it went DD password is `CLEAR.`
As you will see in the attached pictures, the only `extras` I got were `Advanced` and `Power,` which believe it or not, has NOTHING to do with CPU power adjustments, or FSB Speed adjustments...
Advanced has listings for `PCI Express Root Port 2,`3, and 4. It also lists `ASF configuration.`
Afaik, almost none of these settings pertain to overclocking... and I`ve tried using setfsb, to no avail. I've even tried turning `Hyper Threading`off, and the speed only budged a hertz or so... I`ve tried just about every setting on set FSB, and the only pll that worked (sort of proper) was (using setfsb_2_2_134_98) : ICS9148BF-26 (the 1st one on the list.)
I clicked get FSB and it starts out with the 1st slider MAX`d at 7. The other slider is greyed out. Do NOT See attached picture.
It reads FSB, and DDR, and PCI, but not AGP...
Anyhoo, I can (seem to) UNDERCLOCK this board from 133MHz to 100MHz, and the slider stays, but the processor speed stays the same. I don`t know it the speed change should be immediate or not. As I stated earlier, the slider starts out maxed out at 7 - 133MHz, can`t go higher... but still no change in speed. I think that both sliders have to be able to move to overclock this puppy. I`ve only heard rumors (never seen one...) that this particular atom can be ripped asunder, so to speak.
Loooong story short, I didn`t manage to overclock (or underclock for that matter) the ACER Aspire One D255 with INSYDE BIOS.
[censored] wasps...
Anyways, on to the attached pictures:

I would like to enable "Power=>Advanced CPU Control==>Use XD Capability on my Laptop Acer TravelMate 8172.
For tests I have a Acer Aspire One (CPU also supports XD bit). The "power" section is not visible at all in the BIOS screen.
But PhoenixTool structure export shows mostly no "supress if" commands but only "grayout if" (see extraction below). With missing "suppress" one (I) would expect that the power menu is visible but greayed out. But is is not visible at all. Is it worth a try or is this an indication that more effort is needed than simply "ungray" the forms and then they appear?
