hi guys
fist, sorry for my poor language...
the history is:
i already have a modified BIOS to my motherboard ECS A790GXM-AD3...
this BIOS unlock my phenom II x3 720 to a phenom II x4 deneb successfully...
but this bios is the first launched bios to my motherboard, and have a lot of bugs...
i'm looking at various forums, someone able to help me by modifying a new version of bios... alot of people recommended this forum...
the old version with unlock working is here:
http://www.mediafire.com/?zw2kzjjjdyn
but i dont know who build it...
the bios (AMI) that I would like to see changed is that (last version):
http://download.ecsusa.com/dlfileecs/BIO...90T118.zip
or any one else who can work well...
Finally here is already my thanks to whoever can help me.
See ya!

I checked both bios roms and they both have all features enabled. there are no hidden functions that are disabled or hidden. if you were trying to add cpu patch code to the bios to support or better support the phenom as it did in the original bios your best bet is to repost your request in the cpu mod thread. I would like to help but I don't have any experience as of yet modding cpu patch code in bios roms. at least I can point you in the right direction. I'm sure one of the other guys in the cpu mod thread knows how to narrow down to which patch code did what you needed in the original bios and can extract it and insert it into the newer bios rom for you.
hope that helps at least somewhat!

you sure? the last version of the bios don't unlock my phenom, it is strange... and i tested my phenom unlocked for 8 hours in Prime95 and 4 hours in OCCT linpack, in both, result 0 erros...
cpu support can cause this? don't enable the unlock? but, the last version suport a lot more CPU...
anyway i will retest.
thanks for you attention

I guess I need to understand better what you mean by you unlocked the phenom.
can you explain what you did to unlock it exactly.

my phenom is a phenom II x3 720 and unlock to four cores, transforming it on a phenom II x4..
look this screenshots:

http://img535.imageshack.us/img535/1690/...erest2.png
to it works, i set Advanced Clock Calibration (ACC) to "AUTO" in M.I.B I.I (ECS overclock features) options, in bios...
this function equal works with others AMD motherboards with chipset 790GX..
but it only works on old bios, in new, nothing happens, the four core dont appears... i tested all options of ACC in new BIOS and anyone works...
ECS is famous for block this feature... and this old bios is modified also...
thanks for your help.

I believe that only confirms my earlier suspicions. Like you said before the original bios rom is buggy. but does support you overclocking. mobo companies will almost always take the cheapest route to fix a problem. my guess is they inserted a stripped down version of the cpu code that you need in the bios to support the function you are seeking to use. But in the newer bios version this was most likely removed on purpose to prevent dead boards or RMA's along the same lines. I would put good money on it that you need one of the guys in the cpu mod threads to extract that specific cpu patch code from the first bios rom and insert it into the current one for you to flash your board. But like I all the same menu options are available in both the new bios and the old. So the limitation in the newer bios has to be in a option rom code, or a cpu patch code. And I am really hoping it's not a white list cause that would really suck. but I have never heard of any company white listing specific cpu's. Just repost in the cpu mod thread and you should be in the near future. hope that helps!

The easiest way to explain this is as goes. I'm gonna use simple examples.
Think of your bios as a key ring for arguments sake. and the cpu patch codes are the keys. now a processor is a lock. if your bios doesn't have the right key on it's ring it can't unlock the lock or processor. now we all at some points in our life will have an old key that we have no idea what it goes to, but for some odd reason it unlocks a lock that we know should in no way goes to that lock. but it doesn't fit perfectly it just barely unlocks it. it just barely fits and you have to jiggle it to get it to pop the lock. that is the case here. you have a key on the key ring and it fits into the groove of the lock. but just barely works.
This was done either intentionally or out of just plain sloppy coding or just shier laziness on the part of you mobo maker. But do not abandon hope my friend. I have read alot of the requests in alot of the threads and these guys really know their stuff so you are inb great hands. hope that helps!

I did a little digging, And te original bios had only two cpu micro code patches.
the new one the mobo maker added an additional twelve cpu micro code patches. the two micro codes that are seen in the original bios match cpu ID's
and build date exactly. My guess at this point is cpu is being identified by the wrong patch code. and thus those features are disabled as long as your mobo has enabled the wrong patch code for your processor. this is not anything you did. it is most likely by my guess the wrong hook called in the bios. and thus the mobo makers responsibility. But I seriously doubt they will do anything about it. But as I stated before with this data in hand the guys in the cpu mod thread should be able to take it from here. hope that helps!

Actually, here's a better though. Tell me what bugs you experience and we will try to fix the bugs, rather than reinvent the wheel and try to get ACC working on something they messed up.

Excuse my delay in responding, I had personal problems to solve.
f3bandit, thank you VERY MUCH, and understand what you said really makes sense.

are not only bugs in the old bios compared to the new, ddr3 profile dont exists, raid functions are outdated, and pc have problems to shutdown and reboot sometimes (but only in half the time without explanation), with ACC activated or not, it hangs on a black screen after the windows out, and continues working.
because this, i wanted a new bios with acc working, because the new bios from ECS has none of the problems mentioned, only the ACC does not work.
the user f3bandit, both checked and said no to the differences, maybe it's that he spoke about the cpu patch codes.
and frankly I'm a little lost now, my understanding is getting a little confused.
What do you suggest? I ask the codes in another session of the forum?
Thank you for help me.
