[REQUEST] Packard Bell EasyNote BG45 BIOS update & unlock
#1
Smile
Hello everyone,
I own an old Packard Bell BG 45 laptop from 2007 and recently have faced some problems when I decided to upgrade Intel T2300 CPU this computer had as a stock processor to T9500 CPU
Here is what happens, the new CPU max frequency is 2.60 Ghz, but it only runs at 1.17 Ghz max (which is only 46%, thus I never get utilization higher than 46%). I have also tested with prime 95 and same thing happens, frequency won't go higher even if CPU is tortured Sad
Also my minimum processor state is 5% and maximum is 100% (both for battery and charger plugged in) in power options.

Now the BIOS version this computer has is unfortunately very dumbed down and won't allow any type of frequency manipulation, not for CPU nor RAM.

This leads me to my second problem, the chipset this laptop has should support maximum ram frequency of 667mhz (this info exists at Intel's webpage) but my RAM only runs at 332 Mhz

So it looks like computer BIOS limits it's performance Sad

Exact name of computer: Packard Bell EasyNote BG 45
Chipset: Intel GM965
CPU: Intel T9500 2.59 Ghz
RAM: Corsair Value Select 2 x 2GB 667 Mhz
BIOS: American Megatrends (Version 203 dated 10/03/2007)

So, is there anything might be done to expand the BIOS options?
Did anyone already unlock it for this computer?

Thanking you in advance Smile

Edit: I got the CPU problem solved by flashing the latest BIOS (version 208) for this computer (use Prime 95 to test CPU utilization), however RAM problem seems to be unsolvable. I will update this thread in case I will find an alternative way of tweaking RAM frequency. See attachments

Hi friend,

Her You go for the Bios download :

http://www.filewatcher.com/b/ftp/ftp.dow...ios-0.html

Here to get AMIBcp 3.51 to edit Bios file :

http://rghost.net/8SjSHr9d7

Then use this Bios Extracted from CD Installer :

http://rghost.net/6qNzckgLt

Into You'll find the tool to reflash the Bios Mod (replace the Bios File
modified) and create an USB Stick Bootable using RUFUS utility and then
Boot form USB and run flash.bat to write It !

Ok friend,
as I wrote You can flash the Bios Mod from USB Stick in DOS Pure Mode !

" Into You'll find the tool to reflash the Bios Mod (replace the Bios File
modified) and create an USB Stick Bootable using RUFUS utility and then
Boot form USB and run flash.bat to write It ! "

Use Rufus to prepare an USB Stick DOS Bootable :

https://rufus.akeo.ie/

Then copy these files into USB Root Place :

AFLASH2.EXE
AUTOEXEC.BAT
CHOICE.EXE
DRVSPACE.BIN
flash.bat
NECCD.EXE
REBOOT.EXE

(source file : http://rghost.net/6qNzckgLt )
and finally add your Bios Mod with his name :

T32Epb.208

To flash this Bios Mod You have to Boot from USB Stick and then
on C:\ (CLI window) You have to execute the comand . . . flash.bat !

If You cannot use USB You can prepare a CD Bootable and include these files
to use for or use an CD Tool to Boot from USB !
Let me know
Regards

P.S. I cannot find anything about your laptop on official Site !
If You get the Original Bios File upload It here, make a Bios Backup to check It comparing with
File I uploaded !
