I never realized how useful the Advanced tab could be until I got a sneak-peek of it when I had a happy accident this morning! It turns out that the Lenovo Y50 does have a hidden method of accessing the Advanced tab without needing to flash the BIOS! Here's what happened:
I'd run my laptop on batteries the night before, and got it below 20% before turning it off. On waking up in the morning, I plugged the laptop to AC (without turning it on), and plugged my phone into the Always-On USB port to charge it. I turned the laptop on about 30 minutes later with the Novo button and opened the BIOS Menu, and viola! the Advanced tab was right there! I was baffled because I've been to the BIOS Menu several times and never seen it before, so I rebooted the device to verify it. Unfortunately, it was nowhere to be found afterwards! I tried going into the BIOS again while holding all sorts of buttons on the keyboard (just in case), but could never get it back
Things to note (or Important Info?):
*My model is the one with the i7-4720HQ CPU and 4GB GTX 860M GPU, running Windows 8.1
*The laptop was hibernated the previous night.
*The BIOS Utility had both Admin and User passwords I'd set previously (though I read somewhere that this causes problems with accessing the menu)
*Everything was stock: No previous efforts had been made to unlock/mod the BIOS, though I'd done some CPU & GPU overclocking. Also, Startup mode had been set to Legacy, but nothing else had been changed
*The Android phone was connected with a faulty cable (partial contact?) and was a HTC One (M8). I also had a HP wireless mouse receiver plugged-in.
You have to Downgrade to a previous Bios Version and then redo Results files :
How To Downgrade :
snebob
Run this to downgrade:
http://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobi...vy2113.exe
Remember to set the option in bios that enables you to flash an older bios, before you run it.
nop
I found another solution - Just in case it was ever needed.
Download the 1.14 version
http://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobi...cn31ww.exe
Then use 7-zip to extract that .exe file, You will find a platform.ini file into that folder.
Then Look for "BIOSVFEnable=2" and replace it with "BIOSVFEnable=0", run as Administrator InsydeFlash.exe tool and go !
Verified working !
Then use this tool run It as Admin and upload here the result file :
