[REQUEST] Acer Aspire V5-572p Bricked BIOS
#1
First of all, thanks to those who contribute their time and wisdom to this forum!

I ran a BIOS upgrade from within Windows, it rebooted and basically did nothing. Now it doesn't POST.

I extract the BIOS EXE which reveals the following files:

Ding.wav
FlsHook.exe
FlsHookDll.dll
FWUpdLcl.exe
InsydeFlash.exe
iscflash.dll
iscflash.sys
iscflashx64.sys
xerces-c_2_7.dll

I then opened the original EXE with PhoenixTool and that didn't get me where I thought it would. I have a dump folder with a bunch of BIOS files, but no *.FD needed to flash via USB. I'm in a little over my head at this point and could use some help from the pros!

Below is a link to the BIOS version PRIOR to the one that bricked my laptop! Thanks in advance!

Ok friend,
Try these files . . . v.2.10 Unpack them then prepare an USB Stick Fat32 Formatted
and copy into the Recovery file each one for time and try the Recovery Procedure :

http://rghost.net/8QyM9DwJF

http://rghost.net/8GbgdmzkG

- Shutdown the netbook (notebook)
- Remove all peripheral devices
- Remove battery, Remove AC power cord
- Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds (battery and AC power still out), then release
- Put the USB Memory Stick in the USB port
- Hold "Fn" + "Esc" and plug the AC power cord in
- Now press the power button (whilst still holding Fn + Esc).
Wait until the fan will run, then release "Fn" + "Esc" keys
- The fan will run for about 2-10 minutes and the USB drive activity LED will blink
- I think the netbook rebooted automatically. If it doesn't, unplug the AC power cord once the fan has turned off

The bios should be updated with the modified BIOS, and boot as per normal.

Let me know
Regards

Thanks so much for the quick reply. Do I need to put both *.fd files onto the root of the USB drive? Or should I be trying each file separately? Thanks again!

Hi there,

My Acer notebook won't boot or load the BIOS, just the fan and power light comes on, after a while it'll restart and repeat the process. I did a search and came across this post which has the same problem on the same laptop.

Using the steps in that post I can't seem to solve my issue. The notebook doesn't seem to read the USB stick. I've downloaded the .fa file in that post, put it on a FAT32 formatted USB drive, holding "Fn" + "Esc" turn the notebook on, the power light starts flashing indiciating it is in bios recovery mode, but nothing seems to happen, it'll either sit there with the power light flashing for hours, or will restart after a while like it does when it is not in bios recovery mode.

Any help would be much appreciated, not sure if I'm using the wrong files or should do more with the .fa files before putting them in the root of the USB drive.

Thanks

When using the 2nd file in that post, the activity light on the USB stick goes solid but the power light just keeps flashing, left it alone for a while hoping it was just taking ages but still nothing happened.

Hi thanks for replying.

Yeah I've tried both files, I just put the ZQK.fd file on its own on the USB drive, is that correct?

The first file there is some initial activity on the USB drive then nothing. Then it goes into its restarting loop like it does when there is no USB drive plugged in. The second file, lots of USB drive activity initially, the USB activity light stays on solid but nothing happens. Left it for about half hour with the power light flashing away and it doesn't reboot or do anything else.

Thanks

I'm not sure, can't boot up to find out. The Acer website only has v2.1.0 available to download for my model, so guessing it is that.
