[REQUEST]Sony Vaio FW51ZF adv. menu mod
#1
Hello everybody, i'm new to the forums(but lurking for some time), and would like it a an expert can take some time to help me. I have a Sony Vaio laptop (and pretty high end for its time, with c2d T9600,8gb ram and radeon 4650hd) and i'd like an unlocked bios mainly for the thermal configuration and the ability to install hackintosh.

The laptop overheats and shuts down when gpu intensive programs are run, even after the application of artic silver 5 and replacement of worn out thermal pads with copper shims. The only solution to me seems like to throttle the fan to 100% all the time, and i would prefer a software solution(like modding the bios) instead of physically modifying the fan's control line(the laptop is my only computer at the time and was really expensive too).

This is the direct link to the bios: ftp://213.248.114.178/PUB/VAIO/Updates/EP0000208404.exe

Thank you all in advance, and many thanks for all this forums has contributed to the community.

Here is the rom file link: http://www.sendspace.com/file/lz88dc

Surprisingly when i tried to open it with amitool it didnt work, but it did work with phoenixtool. It has SLIC 2.1 and it still wont open in phoenix bios editor.

Edit: Opened it in amibcp 4.53. Searched a bit around the forums, and used phoenixtool to find that the recovery filename is Y0.rom. Is it safe to turn every access privelege from Default to Supervisor? Will this make all bios options available? I already modded a copy of my bios with everything turned to Supervisor but i wait for some input from the forum and need to get familiar with the recovery process(using the official bios). Thank you and i hope i can get some answers soon.
