Hello. I recently got interested in all the modding business, and after scouting few forums and sites I ended up here.
I decided to simply grab a BIOS and learn by trying to mod, searching for informations on the fly. So far I've had questionable success.
My wife has a PC with this older Gigabyte board, H55M-UD2H, for which I downloaded the latest bios, which I am unable to do anything with no matter how hard I try.
It is supposed to have Award BIOS v6.00PG.
CBROM opens the file, but doesn't list any components except for what I believe is the basic stuff (test.bin+ncpucode.bin+crcinit.bin).
Modbin doesn't work at all, version 2.04.03 is giving me error message "Not compressed Award binary code", and any older version (2.03 for example) is stuck at loading the file. The progress bar is moving, but nothing happens even after several minutes.
I also tried AndyP's tools, thinking they were general modding tools, but seems like they only do this SLIC stuff, which as far as I know is only good for messing around with Windows activation on branded PCs/notebooks. His Award tool managed to unpack the BIOS file, though.
Can anyone tell me what am I doing wrong, and give me some ideas please?
