[REQUEST] Lenovo G500 (78CNxxWW) BIOS Unlock
#31
Hey, thanks for your time on this. Maybe Intel locked that value in the i5-3230 since it's a mobile chip. It is very nice, however, to have access to ALL of the BIOS settings, even if a change to the video settings will cause the display to malfunction.

PS - You should know, I forgot about the "don't change video settings" detail, and tried to up the video ram to 512MB. The result initially looked like my laptop did brick on me. But I was able to do a blind entry into the BIOS and reset it with the <F9>, <Enter>, <F10>, <Enter> key sequence. It helped that I use a BIOS password since BIOS blocks all input at the password prompt and just beeped for the <F2> key at that point so I would know I was in BIOS setup. Thank god for that. It was pretty dumb of me.

Have you had any luck with a dedicated mod for my BIOS that unlocks that extra settings, or should I just keep using the generalized version?

The results.rar archive is too big. System won't let me upload. So I'm splitting it into two files. (had to use 7Zip and LZMA compression)

Hi friend,
I extracted Bios Backup You posted, but I found a folder for 2.06 ?!?
Can You use this tool too and upload the result file :

http://rghost.net/53128665

So I will be sure about Bios Version You want to be modded !
Post which version is too !
Let me know
Regards

P.S. Into this Bios is wrote $BVDT$...$..3$78CN25WW(V2.03).........$VIWGP....................$03.72.27.. so It's 2.03 version !!!

Ok friend,
here is your Bios Mod based on your Bios Backup ver. 2.03 :

The 2.06 must have been a typo or other error. 2.03 is the newest BIOS for the G500 that is out right now.
I'll try your mod and post to let you know how it works!

You are awesome! I need to re-run the windows experience index now. The dedicated mod has allowed me to up the video memory to 256MB. BIOS said up to 1GB, though, so I may try that.
Already checked all the ports and my device manager list and everything is perfect. Aperature size, however, cannot be changed from 256MB. This forces a blind entry into BIOS to fix with an <F9> <RETURN> <F10> <RETURN> reset.

Thanks and gratitude to you, BDMaster!

Smile This is why you are the BIOS MASTER. Smile
