Several years ago, here, I got the SLIC 2.1 BIOS for the Dell XPS One (A2010), all was fine. Took the machine back for service this week, upgraded to v2.06 bios, fans ran constantly, my research showed this was happening to almost everyone, and I tried many things to either revert or fix, with no success. I did find a ver 2.02 bios the 'supposedly' fixed the issue, however, either I or it farked the computer, and a failed bios upgrade/rollback has happened.
Looking over notes from 10/2009, the admin here stated: "Took a look at the bios and noticed that its an AMI! - Hurray , because normally Dells have awkward Phoenix bioses!"
Given that, I am looking as to how to do a bios recover, I'm assuming for AMI, and when I extract the files, the names, etc., do not match the instructions as poster here: https://www.bios-mods.com/bios-recovery/...-recovery/
The file names for the extracted bios are:
M-010008
Winflash.exe
afuadm.bak
auto.exe
M-020006
Winflash.sys
afugo.bak
biosupdate.bat
The XPS One does not boot from USB, I have a USB floppy, and/or can burn necessary files as specified in AMI bios recover procedure, however, what files need to be 'renamed' as per instructions, and is this the only solution?
Right now, machine boots with black screen and steady 'beep-beep-beep-beep-beep, never ending-beep'.
I was just hoping to use this in my basement for a Windows Media Center TV and I did a bad flash, need to know if it is reversible or just sell it for parts now?
Thanking anyone who may help.....
