Hello I'm having some trouble trying to resurrect a bricked dell notebook and I'm hoping you guys might be able to help me
with pre-UEFI Dell hardware the crisis recovery process is well documented, but with newer UEFI motherboards the same process will not work for me and the exact setup is not well documented as far as I am aware, after looking round the net it appears I'm not the only one having similar trouble with this
I came across this site after seeing this page regarding the dell 15z, which has some info regarding crisis recovery on a dell uefi motherboard
https://www.bios-mods.com/reviews/unlock...15z-l511z/
My notebook is a dell latitude e6520 the codename is macallan, which I think came out around the same time as the 15z
Looking at pictures of the 15z bios it looks very different from my e6520 so I'm not sure if it even uses the same type of bios as mine?
This is what my bios ui looks like

Even extracting the .HDR from the bios .exe is not as simple as it used to be as dell appears to be encrypting them?
I eventually managed to extract the HDR from the exe using this python script
http://forums.mydigitallife.info/threads...-UEFI-BIOS
Opening the HDR in a hex editor I found the following references which I thought might possibly be of some use?
pfs.hdr
Macallan150.rom
c:\hudson\workspace\macallan15_production\trunk\Build\Capsule.pdb
The link to the bios on the dell website
http://downloads.dell.com/FOLDER01853343...520A19.exe
Can anyone tell me what type of bios my notebook uses?
Is crisis recovery supported in this bios?
Is a .HDR a .rom with a different extension? or do I need to extract the .ROM from the hdr?
Here is the .HDR I extracted
