Request: ASRock E350M1/USB3 BIOS unlock
#1
Hi there, is there a way to unlock the BIOS of my ASRock E350M1/USB3 to OC the CPU (AMD E350 APU @ 1,6GHz) which definitely is the bottleneck of my system?
I bought a ASRock E350M1/USB3 mobo basicly to save energy/be environmentaly friendly with my low profile PC usage: mainly email, internet, no gaming etc. However keeping browser up to date (FF) results in a lagging, slow PC, AV ist also consuming many resources. Buying a new mobo is not really an option, since everything else is perfectly OK and the system itself is not too old.
I'd be glad if someone could help me with that. I attached the latest BIOS (packed together with the update-tool by ASRock) that I already flashed on my PC (everything else is up to date, too). Many thanks in advance!

Alternatively You can flash original Bios and Extract file from %TEMP% folder during the flash !

Thanks a lot, BDMaster!
Extracted the BIOS using AMI AFUDOS-tool.

.zip   E350M1.zip (Size: 2.06 MB / Downloads: 35)

Played around with the .rom-file using AMIBCP, as well. Switched some settings under "OC Tweaker" and "Advanced" to "USER" and updated BIOS - but no visible changes.
By the way: according to AMIBCP the BIOS should have 9 visible menu-items. However it has only 7. Menu-item "Tool" (which is apparently empty) and "Chipset" (which is basically for southbridge-config) is missing in the present BIOS.
Question: What does the option "extended user" in AMIBCP mean under "acess/use". I only read about the "USER"-option under "acess/use". What's the difference?
Any help is highly appreciated.

Thanks, I checked that already and was able to get more BIOS-features by setting access to USER. However no further OC-opportunity and I still couldn't get the "CHIPSET"-menu-item to appear. Set that to USER, too – als well as all the items in the sub-Menu. No change.
I also found the sequence in the binary in section "setup"->"PE32+" (following JRandomHackers tutorial) that might be responsible for visibility of that menu-item. There is only one sequence reading 01 01 01 00 01 00 01 01 01 (7 out of 9 menu-items in the correct order). But I haven't dared to flash that modded BIOS, yet.
So, last question: How risky will that change be, if it's "only" the "setup"-section of the BIOS (and if that part of the code is in fact for something else)? I don't want to brick it (backups were made, USB-pen is ready).
Thanks for your advice.
I will upload the modded BIOS when successful.

Just to close this topic: after BDMaster's "AMI Aptio Bios Unlock" didn't yield the desired results I followed JRandomHackers tutorial to edit the BIOS menu. Got a BIOS freeze after the first change, but the new menu-items were there including "CHIPSET"-menu. Rebooted, tried a different setting, flashed the BIOS again (after verification check etc.), AMI-flash reported everything was OK, but: BRICKED. Beep code signals hardware error. And yes, I did all the necessary steps after the flash. No way to access BIOS, no way to access USB pen or DVD-drive, no way to do instant flash (anyway, this seems to be disabled by default in the BIOS setting for whatever reason), no way to boot up again. After a few more tries (no RAM-problem, no other pluggable-hardware-problem) I gave up and finally ordered a new mobo. Too bad...
If anyone has an idea what else to try, let me know. I haven't dumped the mobo, yet.
