Hello again Dj-Elroy,

I will check out your BIOS mod to see what can be unlocked. Unfortunately, I am not able to perform the Fn/Ctrl swap. Are you by chance able to find another BIOS image with the key swap like last time? Also, I can move this thread to the SLIC and Whitelist forums after the mod is complete.

Hello Dj-Elroy,

I am not currently sure how to perform the Fn/Ctrl swap, but I am looking into it and doing some research. I extracted the old and new BIOS images. Between the extracted files of the old BIOS with the Fn/Ctrl swap and the new BIOS without the swap, 25 of 67 files differ to varying degrees.

I will keep you updated as I look into this.

Hello Dj-Elroy,

I think I might have found a solution to transfer the Fn/Ctrl swap from the old BIOS to the new BIOS, but I need to test a similar mod on my Phoenix BIOS mod testing computer to ensure its safety. I will do this on Saturday.

EDIT: The keyboard swap appears to have been done in the HOLE0.ROM module. 4 bytes differed between the old and new images' HOLE0 files. I am going to test the safety of HOLE0 mods on my computer on Saturday (It will be safe, as I am just copying another BIOS version. I just want to know how heavily that module can be safely modified.).

Hello Dj-Elroy,

Thank you for your patience.

I have had your BIOS mod done for a few days, but I haven't yet gotten to testing out the HOLE0.ROM file mod on my test computer. I will do that tonight and upload the BIOS mod.

Hello Dj-Elroy,

Your BIOS mod is complete! The modified BIOS archive can be found at the bottom of this page.

I tried overwriting the entire HOLE0.ROM module with 00 bytes and it *still* didn't brick the computer. The computer is fully functional. Therefor, the 2 pairs of bytes that I swapped in your BIOS image will be safe to flash.

I have unlocked the INTEL Menu and have also done what I hope will successfully swap the Fn and Ctrl keys.

Precautions/Disclaimers:
Quote:Please remember to take proper precautions when flashing your BIOS. Even if the BIOS image is safe, the flashing process can still fail. Make sure that [if applicable] your notebook is fully charged (100%), that the power adapter is properly connected, and that the chance of a power outage occurring is as minimal as possible. Do not interrupt the flashing process. If possible, it is good practice to have a working CRISIS recovery disk handy when flashing your BIOS. Use the flashing instructions for your particular computer brand. DO NOT DO ANYTHING UNNECESSARY!!!

I take absolutely NO responsibility for ANY damages that may occur to you, your computer, your personal belongings, your neighbor's cat, or any other personnel or equipment as a direct or indirect result or consequence of your, or any one else's, use or misuse of any of the files that are in this archive at the present or at any time in the past or the future. You assume full responsibility for any damages or inconveniences that may occur by choosing to flash, or otherwise use or misuse, this image or any of the other files within this archive.

Have fun! Smile

Please remember to post the results of the BIOS flash!
