Hi,
I have the Acer E1-572, BR648 variant (i5 4200U, 6GB RAM DDR3L, HDG 4400 and 500GB HDD). This weekend, I tried to install a caddy with a 500GB HDD (actually the original HDD) to this laptop, and a kind of BIOS conflict might happened during the process (maybe because of the ODD changes Acer made on the BIOS lately). The final result is my laptop rebooting every time I try to power it on. No POST, just a black screen and sudden reboots (computer is unable to keep on).
I was trying to recover my BIOS using WinCrisis method. However, extracting the .exe I've got from Acer didn't show any large .fd or .bin files. Executing the BIOS flasher in another machine reveals the isflash.bin file in Local/Temp directory. Running the isflash.bin file in PhoenixTool shows me that I have to rename my file as VX......f?. But, as anyone knows, Windows doesn't allow question marks on filenames. Renaming the file as VX.......fd and injecting WinCrisis files on a flash drive produces no effect on the target machine using Esc+Fn keys. I'm unsure if the BIOS is RSA-signed due to its filename.
I'd like to know the right way to inject BIOS and recover this laptop.
Thanks in advance.
