Hello everyone,
I'd like to know if any hardware experts can help me. I would like to change the wifi card of my old Sony Vaio VGN-CR21S for a wifi card that implements the 802.11n protocol. By default this laptop has an IntelĀ® PRO/Wireless 3945ABG. It works well but it doesn't have "n", so I'm limited to 54 mbps, something that is scarce nowadays. Therefore, to avoid surprises and for something on my own that won't work later, I prefer the opinion of an expert who can advise me.
If possible I would like to buy a card that supports the BIOS I have now R1131Q0. There was some laptops which share this BIOS like the CR29XN which implemented the 802.11n by default. Regrding thie BIOS issue, I have seen that the VAIO VGN-CR3XX series that uses the R2101Q0 BIOS has WLAN cards that implements 802.11n as well. Although this BIOS belongs to the next series I know that it is fully compatible with my laptop.
Thank you very much.
