Hi there!
I know I am new to this forum but someone please help me out with an unlocked BIOS
The laptop in question Aspire A717-72G (my model is equipped with 8750H and GTX 1060).
I attach the bios folder extracted from the installer.
Could someone please unlock the CPU settings/overcloking menu ? Asking this because I need the menu where I could undervolt the CPU (and maybe increase the factory set TDP limit of the CPU) right from the BIOS without the need to use a 3rd party woftware in Windows.
Also, can anyone tell me if the BIOS is write protected on this laptop? It is no problem if it is, because I have access to an SPI programmer, I am just interested if the modded BIOS can be flashed in Windows or I need to remove the BIOS chip and manually flash it.
Also, can anyone tell me why are 2 .fd files included in the folder? I never worked with Insyde BIOS, is this common for this BIOS type? Or 1 is the BIOS and the other is the EC?
I can not offer much for the person who unlocks the BIOS, but I can buy you a beer (if you have paypal)
Thank you for the help in advance !

Hi
Your bios is rewrite protected
Bios mod can be flashed using SPI-programmer+SOIC8 clip only

That is no problem, I can flash a modded BIOS with SPI programmer.
The 2 questions still remain through:
1) why are there 2 .fd files?
2) Can someone still unlock the BIOS ?

Hi there!
Sorry for taking so long to reply, was a busy week
The BIOS has been saved using TL866 SPI programmer and Minipro software.
The good news: reading was succesfull !
The bad news: the bios is stored on an uncommon XMC QH128AHIG chip which means that Minipro v6.60 and 6.82 does not support this chip so writing is not possible, only reading.
Could you please mod the BIOS in a way so it could be flashed without SPI programmer?
I attach the BIOS to this message. It is a rather large BIOS, good thing it is filled with empty "F"s ...
Thank you!

Now, tough time to find the unlock edit Can you please share with me via PM Dudu2002?
You can send me IDA dif file, or tell me locations to bypass via hex, or even just point me to the correct sub and jump points in IDA in an image if you wanted.
Really appreciate it if you could help show me the proper location, thanks!
Is it these two in 7D0? Or further down, same module?
