Overclock RAM and/or CPU of HP DC7800SFF
#1
Hello,

I have an HP DC7800SFF and I would like to overclock the RAM and/or the CPU. I am currently heavily bottlenecked by RAM performance in certain workloads and I would most prefer to increase RAM speed if forced to choose CPU or RAM.

This computer uses an HP OEM board model #: 0AA8H as well as an Intel Q9650 with a locked multiplier thus I can not overclock with a multiplier or within stock BIOS settings. The board is currently using the following BIOS: Hewlett-Packard-786F1v01.35.rom

From what I've read on google, it looks like I will need to increase the front side bus somehow to increase the CPU & RAM clock rate, but there are not any guides on the internet on how to do this for my MOBO.

From looking through HWINFO64, it appears that the chip used to control the clocks on my MOBO is: Intel 82801IB ICH9 - SMBus Controller [A2]. I downloaded the RW Everything Tool from this site and found that I can directly access the code which controls my clock generator https://imgur.com/P88Dfbo
However I have not been able to find any documentation which specifies how that code works so I am not going to play around with that at risk of bricking my PC. I can also access the memory speed controller code, but again, not going to play around with that as I have no idea how that code works.

Does anyone have an idea how to go about this project? I know these OEM boards aren't exactly known for their overclocking process, but I still would like to give it a shot. Any help is greatly appreciated!
