I have an HP Z230 SFF with i5 4570 and hope to put an i7 4790 (non-k) into it.
I bought two used i7 4790 (non-k) and I tried installing it only on my HP Z230 SFF, but I got no video output and the fan would ramp up to 100% fan speed.
I thought I had a defective chip, but I installed both the i7 4790 (non-k) chips on an HP EliteDesk 800 G1 SFF and it worked..
I have updated the BIOS to the latest version available, but it didn't make any difference
I just tested an i5 4590 (non-k) and it does not work as well. I get no video output and the CPU fan would ramp up to 100%.
I am hoping to get a modded BIOS for added support, but I might try and get a i7 4770 (non-K)
