I hope this isn't the wrong place. I read over all the sub-forums and I can not find any other place on this forum that I think would be suitable for this discussion so I will try here. If this is in the wrong place then sorry.
That out of the way: I own an MSI X79 Big Bang Xpower II motherboard. The default bios from MSI does support the Ivy-Birdge-E V2 processors just fine but for some reason none of the overclocking options seem to work with one of these processors installed in the motherboard. This board does allow overclocking the base clock from 100 Mhz -> 125 Mhz with locked I7 processors like the I7-3820 and I have tested that it works but this does not seem to work with one of the Ivy-Bridge-E Xeon processors in this board. We can set the overclocking options but it just doesn't run, even a simple small overclock like 100 -> 105 Mhz. I am guessing that MSI programmed some sort of astifical lockout in their bios that prevents the system from overclocking these processors some how. I wonder if anyone here can some how look at the bios and see if they could remove whatever lock-outs or limitations MSI imposed over their bios when it detects these CPU's are installed?
