MCP61: MCP61PM-HM, MCP61PM-AM Motherboard Info
#21
I have an Asus M2N-MX SE Southbridge nVIDIA nForce 6100-430 (MCP61P) and a CPU DualCore AMD Athlon 64 X2, 2100 MHz (10.5 x 200) 4000 +.
I saw that you worked on Acer, ECS, HP, Gateway, but I'd like to know what chances I can do to update this BIOS for overclocking.

Description: Information on the MCP61 series boards that have all been unlocked with the ABIT BIOS mentioned on the forums. This wiki will provide information on the BIOS, best overclocking options, recommended options, and additional hardware. Please consult the forums for model specific information.

Hardware:

Recommended Memory: G.SKILL PC-6400 DDR2 800mhz 5-5-5-15 1.8v-1.9v
This memory is the perfect solution for these motherboards. It offers reliablity and stability, but is also very versatile for supporting a desired overclock. These modules have been tested by us under the HP Nettle2 platform and run flawlessly. They not only inclrease Windows Experience Index but allow you to pust your FSB if you choose to overclock.

Greetings,

I have the eMachine version MCP61PM-AM. I have a 125W Athlon64 X2 6400+ waiting to install. Consesus is that the stock board will not support it (I currently have the 89W 6000+ version). Once I receive the appropriate heat sink I will attempt it. I would appreciate it if you could bear with me & answer a couple of questions:
1. Is the modded BIOS for this board "abit_unlocked.bin"? If this is incorrect, could you provide a link to the approriate mod? I was a little confused with some of the attachments in this thread & the previous thread.
2. If I flash with the modded BIOS, what is the maximum processor that I would be able to use?
Would I be able to use the 125W Athlon64 X2 6400+? I see reference to Phenoms in this thread also.
Official support limits it to the 89W 6000+ that I already have but I saw a thread in another forum where the poster dropped in a 125W 6000+ in the stock BIOS with no problems (don't know if the board was eMachines).
Sorry for the basic questions but I purchased the 6400+ chip assuming it would work but found evidence that it may not work. If flashing the BIOS would allow the 6400+ Athlon64 X2 or even a more advanced chip, I'll do it.
Thanks for reading.
Regards,
Rich

the 6400+ works fine on the t180 board, I think it works for me because I had already upgraded my psu, and put everything in a larger case with lots of fans. I probably wouldn't of tried it in the stock case with stock psu etc.

Hey all!

I found a working HP pc that was trashed, with A64 X2 4450e and ECS Nettle3 mb. Just needed a cleanup + reinstall.
But i'm very unsatisfied with the OEM BIOS, lacking all the usefull configurations i'm used to.

Found this great forum and was wondering if the Foxconn BIOS would work on my setup?

Info:

ECS Nettle3
nForce 6100/6150 MCP chipset
Phoenix BIOS v5.17 / MCP61P-6A61KE11C-00

Thanks in advance! ChrK

Hi all, I flashed the foxconn bios to my mcp61pm-am an all works except that the fan runs at 75% all the time, nothing is hot, and it stays on when i turn off the computer or put it into sleep. Thanks in advance, sorry for hastiness, was in a rush to type.

Alright, well I flashed the Abit bios now and the fans are all good, only problem is I can only use the ctrl f1 thing, ctrl f9 doesnt do anything, i cant get into multiplyers or voltages ir anything. i tried modbin6 but it got a buffer overrun error.

Thanks

Hello everybody Wink
Im new here, you are doing very interesting projects in this forum.
What i want to ask: I own a HP a 6025 with this Chipset, but i have a different Motherboard (Asus m2n68 - LA (narra) )
Would this BIOS-mod work for my motherboard , too?
Is there any other possibility to overclock?

Sorry for my bad englisch, im from Germany (Lower Bavaria)!

Hi Korbi,

We have no confirmed testers for the m2n68-Narra, however I believe others may have had the same questions. Have you tried a forum search?

These boards do have the same chipset and there is a probability, but I have not had anyone test it so cannot confirm it for you.
