[Unlocked] HP Pavilion dm1z insyde F.12 unlock

try this method : put you bios into these folders and try to flash again (win+b):

HEWLETT-PACKARD\BIOS\Current\01611.bin

Second method:

remove power adaptor and battery
open bottom case
remove CMOS (BIOS) battery
wait about 5 minutes
plug power adaptor in and power it on.

let me know if these methods works.(for me , second one worked)

Download your original bios from hp site and unpack it with winrar then copy the .bin file to a fat32 formatted usb stick under this path

X:\HEWLETT-PACKARD\BIOS\CURRENT

Once the binfile is there go to your laptop and insert the stick press Win+b key and press power on. If that does not work try pressing all four arrows instead of win+b and press power on.

That should work.

Nice day.

hani93, your second method worked. I tried that earlier, but I guess I didn't leave the battery disconnected long enough. But one more shot and it worked. It's a real pain that I have to 90% disassemble this thing to get at the battery connector.

Thanks everyone!

As a side note, does this mod allow for any wireless adapter or just bios options?

Edit:

After restoring the bios defaults, and rebooting... I'm back to the flashing caps-lock.

when you exiting bios do not take this option: Save and exit bios..

take these options:
save without exit
exit without saveing

So is mine but I can't determine where the connection wires lead to in order to access them. I can only access the CMOS battery tucked in its little hole. Smile

Thanks for your help!

My battery is out in the open as well. The wires and connect go 3/4 of an inch underneath the plastic panel. Which, requires you to remove the keyboard, top cover and motherboard to get access to. A royal pain the the butt.

I've since gone back the factory firmware. With this modded firmware, I would get one boot (post cmos battery removal) until the bios would corrupt, and require another disassembly.

I feel comfortable taking apart this laptop but going that far just to reset the CMOS isn't worth it. Did you try hani93's method above?

At least you know the internals of your DM1 well now. Undecided

Also, are you sure you weren't using the latest F.13 BIOS before flashing the modded F.12? I would imagine that scenario would cause some problems.

How do I remove the modded bios?
Do I just delete the folder in the C drive? I updated to F13 and now I get random reboots so I was wondering how do I remove the modded bios?

Simply download original bios from HP page and flash it.
