Recovering From A Bad Insyde Bios Flash

Insyde Bios Recovery Procedure For Notebooks Big Grin

Download the original bios file ******.FD and rename it to ******.BIN and place it on a USB thumb drive.

Disconnected the AC adapter from the notebook.

Remove the battery from the notebook.

Insert the USB thumb drive into one of the USB ports on the notebook.

Held down the 'Windows' Key and the 'B' key.

Connect the AC adapter.

Press the 'Power' button on the notebook.

When the LEDs come on, let go of power button and the two keys held down earlier.

After about 10 seconds the notebook starts to read the USB thumb drive.

While searching for the file the notebook may beep once a second.

The number of beeps varies, depending on how big the USB drive is and
the number of files on it.

If the file was not found, the notebook will reset itself and try again.

If the file was found then it shouldnt take more than 30 seconds to load the file.
No beeping sounds are heard during the loading time.

When the file has loaded, the notebook starts flashing the bios file. This is indicated by beeps every 2

seconds.

This takes about 30-60 seconds.

About 5 seconds after the beeping stops the notebook will automatically shut itself down.

Switch on the notebook again.

BIOS should have recovered and the notebook should work again!

One stupid question 1234s282: what you mean for USB thumb drive? A FAT32 formatted USB key? Or a special bootable USB key?

what do you do if you can't GET the original bios.

Heres my situation: I want to try a whilelist removal for my bios but it currently doesn't have one available for download.

Is there anyway to EXTRACT the current bios?

There is bios for dv6t-2000 from hp.
if you choose windows7, then it show up.
but I haven't download and checked it has slic 2.1 or not.
make sure your laptop is intel processor as it shows.

I have a HP Pavilion tx2510us. Where I get the two flashing leds for the caps lock and the num lock keys. Which indicates that the BIOS is corrupted. I loaded all three BIOS files that HP has for the laptop.. Since the laptop was running just fine the day before and today it poped up with that error/problem. The laptop goes through the beeps and looks like it reads/accesses the thumb drive which is a 16gb sandisk formated to fat32 but I didn't make bootable or any special features. Only thing on it is the 6 BIOS files.. the .FD and .BIN Any input would be greatly appreciated.. because trying this method is still not getting me past anyting. Yet you can hear the laptop warm up and speed up the fans like normal.

As of right now, my computer is working, and I haven't made any modifications to it whatsoever, in re: to the bios. I used Universal Bios Backup to back up my bios and out came out a .rom file. Do I switch the extension to .bin, or will this method work keeping the rom file as is?
