[REQUEST] Asus B85M-G ASUS 2.1 SLIC
#11

I suggest trying with Intel FPT. I do not have this motherboard so have no other idea how to install bios. Don't tell me if FPT program cannot be run, just find a proper version. You need to extract bios region from the CAP file first, otherwise you'll end up brickimg the mobo if FPT actually works.
Are you suggesting to flash the CAP using Intel FPT? How can this be done without damaging the board? Please forgive me, I have never used such tools before...

Has anyone managed to run Slic 2.1 on an Asus B85M-G board? Has anyone saved the files? Also, if possible, write what program you used to flash the BIOS. I really need... Thanks a lot!!!

Not the CAP itself, only one region. CAP consists of capsule header and ME, Desc, BIOS regions. Extract bios, then flash with FPT.

If you want to try, but have not enough knowledge, I can make a batch script for effortless installation.

EDIT: Found info that FPT doesn't work until the locks are disabled. Things got a little more complicated.

I found this instruction. Do you think it will work? It says how to get ROM from СAP. Then - some incomprehensible things about clearing ME region, and then (!!!Important!!!) - you need to flash ROM into the board using AfuWin. AfuWin must be selected so that the /GAN option works, it should bypass protection. Only I have not found version 3.05.04 yet... I'm very scared))!

Good finding!
So you want to give it a try? Let me know if I should send you the files. Also, in the linked post ME cleaner is used to activate HAP bit and therefore disable ME. It's an optional operation which, I think, may be skipped.

Thank you Very much))!
I managed to get the ROM from your file!
I downloaded UEFItool 0.21.5, opened your MOD-СAP in it, then right-clicked on it - "extract as a body". A window will open to save the ROM file "b85mg2.rom". Saved it to a USB flash drive. Let the address be D:/afuwin

I downloaded AFUWIN 3.05.04, and also found the original version of BIOS 3602 CAP "b85mg.cap" on the Internet. I placed all this on a USB flash drive.
I didn't clean the ME region, you don't need to do that!
Next: first, to check, I flashed the original CAP.
To do this, I opened the CMD as an administrator, typed the command: cd d:/afuwin
A prompt appears D:/afuwin
I type the command: afuwinx64 b85mg.cap -> enter
The flashing begins.
After the flashing was completed, I rebooted the PC, nothing happened to it.
Then I open the CMD again as administrator, and go to the USB flash drive in the AfuWin folder again.
Now I write the following command: AfuWinX64 b85mg2.rom /GAN -> enter
I wait. I'm afraid. The program is flashing the MOD ROM at this time.
I reboot, and through the SlicToolkit I see that the activation has worked! Cool

I used a hybrid of these instructions, this one, and this one)).
I am attaching to the post a set of flasher Afuwin 3.05.04 with custom b85mg2.rom and original b85mg.cap, UEFItool just in case.
It would be good to save these files to a host with the longest possible storage time...
Reserved on Google drive!
Translated with love by Google))

It's been 3 weeks since the modified BIOS was flashed. The board works great! Activation is stable))! During this time, I made an ISO image with the "ASUS Win 7 OEM:SLP" distribution from a Asus K50in Recovery DVD. I replaced the drivers for the B85M-G board in the distribution, and now I can restore the PC to a working state in 20 minutes))!
