BIOS Lock variable reverts to 0x1
#1
Hello,

I am new to BIOS modding and am trying to modify the BIOS of my Lenovo ThinkCentre M710q to unlock RAM overclocking. However, when I attempt to flash my modified BIOS using fptw, I encounter Error 368.
To bypass this error, I followed a tutorial that suggests modifying the BIOS Lock variable (0x8BE in my case). I used setup_var in GRUB to set it to 0x0, but upon reboot, it resets to 0x1.

When I first run setup_var in GRUB, the initial value is 0x1. After applying the modification and running the command again, the value changes to 0x0, confirming that the change has been applied. However, when I reboot (Ctrl + Alt + Del), the PC performs a "fake boot"—the Lenovo startup screen appears for a few seconds, then the system restarts, and the BIOS Lock variable reverts to 0x1.

It seems like the BIOS detects unauthorized modifications and automatically restores the original setting. Has anyone encountered this issue before? How can I resolve this problem?
Thank you in advance for your help.

I have attached the original BIOS for reference.
