This tutorial will teach you how to create a bootable USB flashdrive with DOS on it.

Prerequisites:

Instructions:

1.) Plug the flashdrive into your computer.

2.) Download 'Universal USB Installer' (in the prerequisites section above) to your computer and launch it. In Windows Vista and above, you may need to grant the program administrator privileges. This program allows you to create bootable USB flashdrives with one of various different operating system choices.

3.) Click on " == Select Distribution == " (ignore the quotes). A drop-down menu will appear.

4.) Scroll down until you find the option named "FreeDOS". Click this option.

5.) Near the bottom-right corner of the window, you will see the text "Drive:". Click the bar to the right of it and make sure that your USB flashdrive is selected in the drop-down menu that appears. If it does not, make sure that "Type:" is set to "USB Drive".

6.) Be sure to backup all of the data on your flashdrive. The next step should not erase any data, but it is always better to be safe than sorry.

7.) Click "OK". The program will download FreeDOS and install it to the flashdrive.

8.) Reboot your computer, enter the "Boot menu," select your flashdrive, and press Enter. If DOS appears as the operating system, you have successfully created a free bootable USB flashdrive. Congratulations! Go throw a party or something.
