Great work, I believe I was using 201.04 because the newer one bugs me for several reasons, so this must have been the cause.

I will update the first page with your post,

i've got a strange bug :
there is no problem to modify an origrinal unmoded bios.
when i try to mod a moded bios , save new bios is impossible , error occur dring save.
I must load the original bios in modbin6 , modify it and save and all is oK

strange isn't it ?

Judging from the failures in the older versions of modbin, theres probably a checksum issue with the bios. After you mod the one that fails, use cbrom to extract and replace a random rom, in this case try the logo rom, and it MIGHT fix the checksum to make it openable again.

Hi, i have a Acer Aspire M100 and i had a problem when i was updating my bios.

Now, i have a black screen with sounds, and floppy works.

I made a boot disk with a modded autoexec.bat, awdflash, and bios.bin

I tested this bios:

From acer:
R01-A0 Linux
R02-B1
VISTA

From here:
Acer Aspire M1100 R02-B3 Virtualization And OC By 1234s282
Acer Aspire M5100 R02-B1 With Overclocking By 1234s282
R02-B3

I copy it to diskette, turn on pc, loads floppy and in 20 or 30 seconds the floppy activity stops, and nothing happens.

Please help me.

(sorry for my english, im spanish)

for safe , i used the folowing method
1) buy an empty bios chip (6€ for me)
2) use the hot swap recovery method to boot (boot with the original bios and when you are under dos , remove the bios chip from its support)
3) put empty chip in support
4) flash it as usual

i post here my modded bios R02B1 from my aspire M5100 phenom computer
enjoy

Hello,
Where could someone state side find an "empty bios chip" to purchase?
Is there a specific name or type of bios chip?
Has anyone successfully gotten this newest flash to work on a f690gvm?

I've recently emailed Foxconn, before I found this site through a broken link on google, asking them for information on the whereabouts of an update on this bios.
I find it odd that the UK Acer site shows updates for this motherboard with very little information on the actual files. The US Acer site states that there are none for the M1100 system and a few for the 5100 system.
Could the M1100 be the AMD Mobo and the 5100 be the INTEL Mobo?

I'm very much interested in all of this, as I purchased a 5050e a year ago upgrading from the stock 2350e (equiv), and the motherboard doesn't entirely recognize the cpu. Additionally the 5050e is a low power CPU which is ideal for overclocking.

I eagerly await the next post. . .

From what I can tell the M1100, M3100, and M5100 are the same board but different hardware added in (CPU, RAM, etc). They are all supposed to be AM2/SB600 boards, F690GVM. I've been trying to flash my M1100, or at least find a program to mod it's capability to read AM3 CPUs. I know the R02-B1 keeps telling me its the wrong BIOS for my board so I'm at a loss as Phoenix says its the latest. Another note about my oddball M1100, the BIOS/System Info/dxdiag etc all show it is a M5100...go figure.

I know I've heard of people using the 'true' Foxconn 690V with AM3 CPUs no issue, so in theory this board should also be able to support them with the proper tweaking...at least I hope they do.

Current Specs:
M1100 (identifies as M5100)
Athlon X2 BE-2350 @ 2.1GHz x2
4GB OCZ DDR2 Blade Series
Acer F690GVM
Visiontek HD 3870 OC
Win 7 Home Premium 64bit

what doesnt the board recognize about the 5050e ? it is an AM2 socket chip.

Okay after looking around it seems that my issue is my board hates AM3 cpus. I'm trying to use an Athlon II X2 245 @ 3.0GHz.

Another thought, anyone know if it would be possible to gain access to alter my CPU & RAM timings? My current BIOS is R01-B3 and I still can't get the R02-B1 to recognize my board. I'm trying to do it via WinFlash. If I can gain access to where I can OC my current CPU, the BE-2350 @ 2.1GHz, I could save a bit of money in the long run. From what I hear its one of the easiest to OC without issues.
