HP Pro 3330 (H-POPEYE-H61-uATX): Ivy Bridge Support
#1
Hi @DeathBringer, Sorry for necro posting on this thread, recently had an HP PRO 3330 MT with bios 7.07 in my possession with code h-popeye-h61-uatx v1.00 on the side of the ram slot, currently has a G620 processor installed and upon testing with an i7 3770, it would not boot, already tried updating bios from HP website all resulting to errors saying incorrect bios for system, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

This revision of the motherboard has 4 MB BIOS chip. To add support for Ivy Bridge you need to replace BIOS chip with 8 MB chip and flash this BIOS - http://whp-aus2.cold.extweb.hp.com/pub/s...p60638.exe (use PO2_806.ROM inside).

Currently dont have the skills to desolder things from motherboard. however i have a CH341A flasher but it cannot detect the chip (25l3206e) as i was planning to just flash the bios. Any other workaround you can advice?

Just want to update on this, almost gave up as i have no skills in using soldering / hot air, i just gave the board one last try before accepting defeat.

I have read somewhere in this sit that some eeprom chips need to be powered in order to be detected and read by the CH341A flasher, so i just plugged the board to an ATX power supply but not turning it on and used the SOIC Clip, to my surprise, it read the contents of the chip.

Next is i used an unlocked bios for the HP Pro 3300 7.16A bios by user genius239 of this site. The flash was successful but then i learned that it still wont support 3rd gen/ivy bridge processors.

I then scoured the internet trying to find a 4mb bios that supports ivy bridge for the HP Pro 3300 but failed.

I then had an idea, what if i flash a bios designed for other boards? I then searched for an H61 board with the almost same layout as the HP Pro 3300 and found the GIGABYTE GA-H61M-S2PH, which has the almost same layout (PCIE x16, PCIE x1 then followed below by 2 PCI slots. I downloaded the latest bios, and flashed it to the HP Pro 3300.

After the flash, while it was verifying the contents, the program prompted that it could not detect the eeprom chip anymore, i almost thought it broke. I then tried to turn it on and VOILA! It worked! It booted as if it was the Gigabyte motherboard!

I then tried it inside windows, all of the ports are working (Lan, Audio, USB, even the ports for front panel audio and USB)

It even allowed to boot recent graphic cards, i have tested Palit GTX 1050ti, Powercolor RX 570 4gb, XFX RX 470 and a Sapphire RX 470 without problems.

All the bios features of the Gigabyte motherboard is working as well!

If someone is reading this, please be very careful in trying what i have tried above, i dont want to be liable of any damages it might do to your board, i just wanted to share what i have achieved from what i have tested.

Cheers to everyone!

Welcome
I have this hp pro 3330mt but it does not support cpu i5 3470
There are many religious people who have the same device and it works fine with the i5 3470. Is there a solution for this problem as well?
