Help? I have a problem at reflashing my bios.
#1
Hello, I'm new here, and I recently got a problem with my computer.

I was recently flashing my bios, and something was wrong afterwards, the computer would not start up, there's beeping sounds (2 short, 1 long) in my HP m2n78-la motherboard. So I tried to reflash it using floppy disks with the AMIBOOT.ROM from the extracted HP bios update exes on it, but that still don't work. Do the bios from the HP update exes have to be converted to .rom before I can do that? The bios from the HP exes have actually no file extension, it's just named like this "VIO5.29" for the 5.29 version for my bios(m2n78-la). Can anyone help me?

Just rename the VIO5.29 bios file to AMIBOOT.ROM and give it a go , although the HP board you mention uses an award bios if im not mistaken. The recovery procedure is slightly different.

I tried that but my floppy drive grinds for two times and then beeps 3 short beeps repeatedly, and nothing happens, the drive spins, and the green light is constantly on, with no flashes what ever, even if i wait an hour. Maybe my floppy drive is bad?

Hi,
I have the same issue with that motherboard (M2N78-LA) HP p6210y, I can't access ANYTHING! cant boot to DOS through floppy, tried all the recovery disks ever made, boot sequence is no good since USB and CD drives are not recognized, just floppy drive.

Have tried to flash it using several ROMs I've encountered renaming them to AMIBOOT.ROM, after turning on the pc, the floppy is read, then I get 3 beeps after like 10 seconds of silence while the floppy is being read... If I turn it on and do nothing, I get 2 beeps.

I'm about to buy a new MoBo, losing my mind here, any help will be greatly appreciated, all this happened because an hp bios update crashed the computer and had no choice but to restart to a coma state.

Thanks
