He used the one that the previous poster put up.

Feel free to use/link/host any BIOS I post, no credit necessary. However, this is at your own risk and I take no responsibility. Always keep a backup of a known-good BIOS. Don't flash a motherboard if you don't have a backup computer just in case.

Always use RAID mode. RAIDFix

I have this same board, but without the wifi option. Is there a BIOS mod for it? Also the onboard marvell ROM should be updated. I'm trying to fix the hard drive iaStor time out issues.

Just an update. After weeks of research I have finally fixed the "The device, \Device\Ide\iaStor0, did not respond within the timeout period." errors and general overall stability problems with the ICH9R chipset and the Marvell 88E8056 built-in nic. The problem is that the ROM it ships with, which lists the device as REV 12, conflicts with the Intel matrix storage drivers in ACHI mode or RAID. The solution is to flash the 88E8056 to REV 14.

Download the following firmware and from DOS run the included eep.bat file.
http://www.gigabyte.com/fileupload/FAQ/2...eeprom.zip

The following thread relates the issue:
http://vip.asus.com/forum/view.aspx?id=2...3182205171

Now it would nice if someone made a P5K-E (without wifi) 1305 BIOS update that included the Intel Option ROM version v8.9.0.1023 (the lateset the ICH9R will work with correctly) and the Marvell Yukon Option ROM Rev 14. I don't know the acutal Marvell ROM version, 6. something I think...

This person has succeded somehow for a different board:

Link to your BIOS and I or someone else will modify it for you when we have time. Note that 8.9 isn't necessarily the latest that ICH9 works with. It varies by board. Some won't even work with 8.9 (a bunch of Asus ICH10 boards won't even work with > 8.0) but some people report that even 9.6 works with some ICH9 boards. I usually provide an ICH9-specific 8.7 build, personally.

Dansolo,
Thank you. Here is the link:

Try this, RAID 9.6. Someone reported (on another site) 9.6 working for P5K-E wifi AP, so it should work for regular P5K-E... probably. Also, JMicron JMB363 1.08.01 and Marvell PXE 6.60.2.3.

This BIOS update works great. I don't run in RAID, only ACHI, but I did enable RAID after the update and was able to enter the menu (CTRL + I). Is that a good way to confirm? I did not boot into Windows like that, but reverted back to ACHI.

Also the Asus BIOS 1305 for both P5K-E boards is identical. So what works for one will work for the other.

Thank you for your help.

Yeah, if you can get into the RAID menu then it works. I did not realize the BIOS was the same, so I guess the wifi people can go ahead and update to RAID 9.6 if they want.

pcunite, do you have a SSD? If so then please use RAID mode. To do so, run RAIDFix (linked in my sig), reboot and enable RAID, then go into Windows and install the latest Intel Rapid Storage drivers. If you do not have a SSD then RAID mode is not so important. RAIDFix will not force you to stay in RAID mode, and you can switch back if you want to.
