OptiPlex 360 380 760 780 960 Xeon LGA 771 E0 1067A Microcode
The 380 Xeon mod works great. Myself and Mr Dreamerz both have our 380 running at userbenchmark with X5470.

I've acquired 3 Optiplex XE DT POS computers. 4 phase VRM and G45 chipset. There seem to be 2 BIOS mods.  Genius 239 which if I understand it correctly replaces LGA775 platform 11 with LGA771 Platform 44 support. So LGA775 won't run anymore? Good for X5470.
And a different one OXE-A05 for added LGA775 support up to CPUID 10676 which will add QX9650 SLAN3 support. Hopefully the 130W TDP won't be an issue. I'm waiting  for an upgraded CPU cooler, and a 90* full height GPU bracket to arrive. I haven't seen a confrimation of a CPU over 95W running in one of these. I own both CPUs, so that's not an issue. But I'm guessing one BIOS mod runs one, and a different one for the other?

I hope I'm following proper protocol (new person) but I have searched significantly for the BIOS with added microcode for my MT (mini tower/desktop) Dell 380.

My CPU is a Xeon E5430 SLBBK E0 stepping. I've read through this 21 page thread here https://www.bios-mods.com/forum/Thread-O...t=dell+380 but the end result is links that seem to go nowhere and questions regarding digitally signed BIOS versions A06 and A07.

This link is to the Dell 380 BIOS A05 https://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/...erid=0j2fx which I assume is the most appropriate to get around the digital signature (as I understand it). I would need whatever modifications to work with a Xeon E5430, SLBBK, E0 stepping.

I tried a few times to create the proper BIOS with microcode but let's say..., I found my limitations. Thank you for any help that might be provided.

So, am I to understand that there are no Dell 380 to 771 CPU mods available then? The first message has every link (by name) deleted. The stated cause, malware.

Thank you. I found a source from that Google search - that didn't require I sign up for just the one time download. Unfortunately as many of these BIOS downloads do it came with a virus. AVG caught it and put it in the vault.

I scanned the zip file, the extracted folder (did the extraction in Linux) and for addition actions scanned each of the three individual files. No viruses were found.  The download came with a Dell "Client" tool for updating the BIOS that runs within Windows. It offered the option to "downgrade the BIOS" which was good because I was at A-07 and A-05 is apparently needed to get around the digital signature. Anyway, it worked. The fans stopped howling, all four cores are recognized and all seems well (Windows 7 computer).

That said I'm prudent to not post the source because of the virus.

Hi all,
I have a Optiplex 760, with the latest unmodified A16 BIOS. I have just purchased a X3363 CPU. Will the bios require a modification for it to work? The CPU I purchased comes pre-altered to fit the 775 socket.
If the BIOS requires alteration, can someone please post a link for me?

Thanks
