Packard Bell Imedia 9668:Cuba MS-7301:Unlocked With Overclocking Options+Slic2.1
#11
Why did you post a zip file with a bios already in it and have us replace this with the other bios, i am just a bit confused, so it's just the renamed 316 bios i need and i can discard the one in the zip?

You need to replace the bios already in the zip because this one only contain the slic but not the unlocked features.
The second one contain slic 2.1 and unlocked features. This is the reason why you need to replace it.
Make sure to rename it to W7301VP2.316.
I'm not sure if I answered your questions,if not ask me.

+1 on that question, is there anyway for the motherboard to see and report 4gb of installed RAM rather than just 3gb? Does this bios change this situation?
On my system Vista system info sees 4gb, but the bios info and the resource monitor in Windows only report 3gb available.

Thanks.

Motherboard: Cuba MS-7301
BIOS Version used: W7301VP2.316

New features: unlocked overclocking options + slic2.1
Heres the unlocked new options in the pictures:
-A custom splash screen:

*The keys to enter the bios are still the same(F2,F3&F8) even if its put F3&DEL keys(its wrong).
-Unlocked OC options menu:

-into the menu

How to do:
-You have to download the 2 modded bios
-Rename the unlocked+slic2.1 bios: W7301VP2-B2.BIN to W7301VP2.316 .
-Replace the only slic2.1 bios file named W7301VP2.316 with the one that you renamed in the unlocked+slic2.1 bios.
-Then you make a bootable USB stick and put this files in the USB stick.Restart your computer on the USB stick, the bios will be flashed at your own risk.

Hi Guys,

Getting desperate now.

Ive done everything thats been said in this thread, but not matter what I try the pc will not boot off the usb stick. It keeps stating that its a non system disk.

Can anyone please help me to work out why, really frustrated.

Regards,

Dan

a message for the old thread for the posterity.

first, thanks for the effort of mod's and general ppl that helps (ALOT).

this bios, http://bios-mods.com/dropbox/TheWiz/Bios...VP2-B2.BIN , only link working, fits on the:
packard bell imedia mc 2569

To get the flasher i had to get the original bios:
ftp://ftp.packardbell.com/pub/itemnr/699...OS_316.exe

I had windows 7 already instaled... and the bios, even in compatbility mode, did not work. without comp. only work for xp/vista. on compatibility to xp sp3 / vista sp2 give error in line ~10 something and it wont work.

extract the cuba_bios_316.exe content:
1-hiren's boot 15.1 on usb, boot from there to mini windows xp.
2-from there got innounp038 from sourceforge to unpack the cuba_bios_316.exe in command line. no GUI (interface with buttons).
3-extracted the resulting ISO file, extracted the IMG floppy image, all with 7zip included in mini win xp. copied the IMG files to a usb drive.
4-reboot, boot with hirens boot 15.1 again, on menu DOS PROGRAMS, DOS, DOS
5-on DOS command line search the USB flash drive (probably on D: or E: if you have 2 flash drives. check content.
6-flash.bat

All this process for the original files from cuba bios 316 exe. if you want the modded one just replace the orig. W7301VP2.316 with the dropbox link rename the file so you wont have to edit the flash.bat . Tongue

Just to check if not forgot to:

Thanks for your great forum bios mods MOD'S! Smile

I installed the BIOS with bootable USB. It installed fine and i got it working.
There's a problem though, I am unable to set FSB cause it's greyed out. I can change DRAM clock and timing but nothing with the CPU. I tried all the Ctrl+F1 whatever and still crucial stuff to me are greyed out. Did i do something wrong?
