[Unlocked] HP Pavilion dm1z insyde F.12 unlock
#1
System is an HP Pavilion dm1z-3000 netbook, w/AMD Zacate.
BIOS is Insyde F.12 from here:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softw...1&sw_lang=

I'm looking to mod it so that I can enable AHCI support, to improve performance on the SSD I've installed.... Any help would be appreciated and I'd be more than happy to make a donation etc.... it would mean a lot to me to actually be in control of the hardware I've bought (what a concept)... Hope I've given enough information; if not, let me know.

Hi... Thanks so much, this worked beautifully... Turns out AHCI was already enabled, but this will be very useful for other reasons such as permanently turning off the bluetooth (to save battery), and not always enabling the fan.

BUT I also wanted to try and downgrade ACPI, bc I was having trouble downgrading to windows xp 64-bit (was bluescreening on acpi.sys)... I downgraded ACPI to version 1.0b, and completely bricked my netbook. The system turns on but the screen stays blank. After several seconds, the caps lock key starts slowly flashing on and off. I feel like such an idiot; classic Icarus situation... obviously some options are disabled for a reason... Does anyone know exactly what I've done or what I can do to fix it? Remove the CMOS battery, perhaps? In any case, I'm not expecting any answers, and will donate tonight regardless of what happens... you certainly did your job, camiloml. And I do heartily recommend this mod to anyone who doesn't downgrade ACPI...
Note: according to the dm1 manual, the caps lock flashing is "sleep" behavior. But the power indicator on the side doesnt flash, as the netbook would while asleep....

Update: donated! I'd still appreciate any advice about restoring my BIOS settings / replacing the CMOS or whatever, but I'll try to figure it out for myself too... I knew the risks, or should have... =P

Just remove the cmos battery for a minute. It will reset to defaults and will boot again. Yes sometimes unlocked options when touch give this kind of surprises Smile

Enjoy the modded bios.

Hey man, can I ask what does the modded bios do? Does it unlock it so im able to overclock my HP DM1z, I myself have one of these!

Regards

No, I can't change the CPU frequency. I haven't gotten around to documenting all the new options yet, as I still haven't figured out how to remove all the screws etc necessary to get to the CMOS battery. =P ...I will though.

There's a program which enables your to undervolt, underclock and overclock for all E-350 and C-50 but we aren't able to overclock due to locked BIOS maybe. Program is called brazostweaker I have undervolted my CPU with this. So does this unlocks the BIOS? And do I just reflash the stock BIOS tl get rid of the modded boos?

Oh, well if you want to underclock, just get the AMD Vision control center program. Recently I was able to skype for ~4.5 hrs with my CPU underclocked to 800mhz.

I have a dm1-3040ca... which uses the same sp53027.exe (f12) bios you unlocked. It flashed without error. Upon reboot, it flashed the hp logo, and then died. Now it powers on with a blank screen. The caps lock light flashes twice (bios corruption). I tried the win+b usb method to recover the bios, but it doesn't seem to work. It reads the usb drive, and just sits there. which leaves me to believe i don't have the right filename (01611.bin) or there is more wrong. If you have any suggestions, it would be appreciated, otherwise I'll have to ship it back to hp for repair. thanks
