Will Nettle2 fix work on Iris8 mb?
#1
Congrats on the Nettle2 hack.

I have a MCP61PM-HM (Iris8) motherboard in my SR5611F system. The bios is ver 5.27 from SP40911.exe
MCP61PM-HM Iris8
BIOS sp40911

Will the Nettle2 hack work, or can you help me apply the same fix to the Iris8 bios?

I also want to add support for the "AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ Windsor 3.0GHz Socket AM2" chip. Right now it says "ERROR: Unsupported CPU installed" and shuts down.

Please contact TheWiz , as he is the one who modded these HP bioses. Id say you can use the mod as long as the official Nettle2 update has the same filename (Sp40911.exe). However , i dont know the original filename for the mod that TheWiz did , o you will have to wait for him to reply im afraid

And for your CPU Upgrade , please re post JUST the CPU Support request , in the CPU Upgrade Support forum

I believe that Iris 8 is the COMPAQ name for the same board. If you copy the link to your Computer support page, I can verify that it will work correctly. Then if the same mod, Ill linki it over in CPU upgrade area, and youll be good to go!

Sure, the Compaq page is SR5611F

The MCP61PM-HM motherboard and SP40911 links are in original post.

There's only some slight differences to the (Iris8) and (Nettle) pages, but they both say "Motherboard manufacturer's name: ECS MCP61PM-HM".

Thanks

From what I see on the site there are two major differences that may or may not make a difference.

A. They're only two RAM slots, not 4.
B.The max proccessor support is 4800, not 5600.

so, while it may work, I would download a copy of winflash and make a backup file of you bios and post it here. Then ill do the feature onlock mod, and Ill let 1234s282 take care of the CPU Support Upgrade, its his thing.

I tested the sp40911.exe BIOS from HP and it worked fine. So, I used the process in Tutorials to get the BIOS file and post it here.

If you can do the same fix to this one, it should do the trick.

I don't understand what you mean when you say you tested it and it worked fine, but I did do an overclock mod on the bios. I implemented a bug fix that has been confirmed, which is simply that menus were sometimes coming and going, and you will be the first one with the fix. The link below is for the overclocking version only, and if you visit the CPU upgrade suppot forum you will see that your cpu upgrade request has already been put in and can be viewed here:

The new thread with the unlocked bios can be found here:

It's a no-go. I followed the tutorial and put in the new BIOS, but it flashed and rebooted to a black screen.

Working on a recovery now...

Which bios did you try, the one with or without cpu support. In any event, this bios has been a 100 percent flash success, but it doesn't have a cpu upgrade patch in it.

P.S. You may not need the upgrade patch, because I have seen some people run a 6000 on a nettle2 without problems.

Chris

UPDATE: as much as you tried your best to flash the bios, YOU MUST FLASH WITH AWDFLASH AS MENTIONED IN THE INSTRUCTIONS I SECIFICALLY GAVE YOU. HP WINFLASH IS GARBAGE AND IS A GUARANTEED FAILURE WHEN DOING SOMETHING LIKE THIS.
I don't mean to be rude, but think when you are doing these things!

I first tried the BIOS with CPU mod from 1234s282 plus your mod. The Winflash app did not like that BIOS, it gave an error and would not load it. So I tried the BIOS that you attached to this thread, without the CPU mod, and it appeared to load fine. After the reboot, the system was toast - black screen.

I didn't see anything about using the AWDFlash utility in our previous messages, so unfortunatly I used the winflash that was quoted in the tutorial.

I tried to recover using the the floppy disk trick from the tutorial section, but that didn't work. The floppy didn't boot. I'm DOA.
