MCP61PM-HM (Nettle2): AM2+ Support
#21
Hello World,
I am searching for a nettle2 5.27 bios

I have an old PC I am trying to ring a little extra life out of. I want to over clock this board.

My motherboard is an MCP61PM-AM 1.0A
CPU Athlon 4400+ 64 X2

I have found threads that reference the nettle2 bios and my setup but the file is no longer available for download. I hope that someone still has the file and can provide a link.

Thanks for any help offered.

Just wanted to let everyone know that I found the file and successfully flashed the BIOS. My only problem is that the BIOS is password protected, and I do not have the password. I think I can get around this by pulling the CMOS battery. If it works I will repost.

OKay I pulled the CMOS battery for five minuets and it cleared the password protection. Now I am off to research overclock setting.

I have this board and due to the fact that none of my 3 phenoms will run I would like to use my athlon II x2 250.

I found 2 links to this but they are dead.. Could someone repost that bios??

Thank you,
Kevin

I followed the instructions listed by The Wiz to flash the bios. Whenever I process the command to perform the flash, it says that the file does not have the correct file number. The board is Rev 1.08, and it currently has a Athlon single core, I am attempting to upgrade it to either a phenom x4, or phenom ii x4. If you need any more info, let me know.

Here's the breakdown: This first should have all the microcode for the AM3 CPU's to date. because this bios is only 512K though, I wasn't able to update MEMinit.bin. so, while you can still try this one: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1525839/Bios/527MODcpu.bin , I have a better solution below.

This version has all the microcode and agesa patches from the next version of this board, which is the Nettle3. this means that support for all the dual cores and first gen Phenoms should be in here. Please note that the nettle2 is ONLY CAPABLE OF A MAX CPU TDP OF 89W, so you should have a CPU under 89W (which the phenoms do come in 65W., but lets test this stuff first, shall we?)

So Here's the one that adds the support from Nettle3 http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1525839/Bios/527MOD%28N%29.bin

After looking things over, either one looks really good, so if you have the means to test, there you are. Make sure you rename file to bios.bin on flash.

can you reupload the 5.27 mod 29.bin file i need to try it

Hey friends,
I'm new here and glad to find this awesome forum.  I've been trying to trouble shoot a friends compy that's using the MCP61PM-HM rev. 1.0B (Nettle2) Mobo.  It kept crashing constantly and even sometimes froze up during post.  What errors I did see pertained to memory errors.  After MemTesting all 4 memory modules in all possible configurations, they all tested good. I also got 2 brand new modules and still same symptoms.  I also reflashed the bios with a modded bios from these forums found here:

https://www.bios-mods.com/forum/Thread-H...ng-Options

While system stability is improved from where I started, its still way to bad for me to call it fixed.  On the assumption that I now have a bad memory controler, I went and replaced the CPU.  According to the thread from which I got the modded bios, the board should now support all Athlon II's and phenom II's, so I went and got me a Phenom II x3 B75.  However, when I swapped it in, the computer powers on but doesn't post and is on black screen.  Swapping back to the original Athlon 64 x2 5000+ processor got me back to posting again.

Am I missing something here? Any ideas where I should go from here? Should I request a bios on the forum? Cause I can only see getting another Athlon 64 x2 processor, and that's not to say it may even be the problem in the first place.

Specs
Model: HP A6357C

Mobo: MCP61PM-HM rev. 1.0B (Nettle2)

CPU: Stock - Athlon 64 x2 5000+
Replacment - Phenom II x3 B75

Ram: Stock - 2x 512mb DDR2 555mhz
                   2x 1gb DDR2 555mhz
Replacment - 2x 2GB DDR2 800mhz

Bios: M613Z_19

Any help is much appreciated. Thanks friends!

Hi Maestro,

There is a lot of confusion on what the modified BIOS for Nettle2 vs. Nettle3 and other variants support. For that board, the highest the ABIT modified BIOS will support is the 5600+ (being in TDP ranges). Anything in the phenom class requires a Nettle3 or higher.

Do you think a 5600+ CPU replacement will solve the issue if it is a failing memory controller issue on the motherboard?

I just went and assumed that the memory controller was on die like the regular Athlon 64, but it does look like its on board as apart of the chipset.  I just don't no what to make of it.  I'm getting different errors pertaining to memory , however I didn't see any crashing during my 36 hours of memory testing.  I doubt its any sort of driver issue cause I was seeing anomalies during post.

Assuming that this board didn't damage the Phenom am I better off getting another board to pair wit it?  I don't wanna spend any more then I have to now, so id like to stay with DDR2 Ram.  Recommendations?
