Hey, sorry to dig up an old thread, but thought there may be some help here. We flashed a Qosmio x505 with the modded bios from this thread, which worked perfectly. Unfortunately, after turning on an Intel XMP Profile from the intel menu, the laptop REFUSES to post... We have tried swapping ram modules, resetting the cmos using the solder pads under the ram, etc.... Anyone have a solution, or am I buying a motherboard? Any help would be appreciated!

Hello xomagen,

Try removing the CMOS battery for 30 minutes. In addition to the CMOS battery, also be sure to remove the power adapter and primary battery from the notebook. You may have to disassemble the notebook in order to access the CMOS battery.

If this fails, test each individual RAM slot by itself to see if one or more of the RAM slots are preventing the notebook from booting.

(02-15-2015, 12:25 AM)Well, we had the CMOS battery out for 25-30 mins, and have tried  a single stick of known good ram in each slot, but the problem remains. Is there any way to perform a recovery on this bios? Wrote: Sml6397Hello xomagen,

Hello xomagen,

I highly doubt that the BIOS has anything to do with the problem as it flashed successfully and only the TEMPLAT module was modified (a corrupted - or even missing - TEMPLAT module would not brick the BIOS, as this module only controls the layout of the BIOS Setup Utility).

Nevertheless, BIOS recovery would be a great troubleshooting step to rule out BIOS problems as the source of this issue. Try following these instructions with the original unmodified BIOS image.

It is possible that the Intel XMP function could have damaged the RAM, the RAM slots, or some other bus/component(s) on the motherboard, but I would not give up quite yet as there are many other possibilities.

Hi all

Recently I got a gdc exp "Beast," but it does not work on my notebook (no video signal and beeps matching)
I read that may be because of this in the BIOS whitelist, this information is correct?
I tried using this BIOS in this post, without success!

My laptop is a Qosmio x505 Q885

Can you help me?

Hi, love your BIOS, my Qosmio is running ice cold now though I have a later model that apparently has a locked wattage it (it's a Q896). They use the same BIOS but I need to be able to change my max wattage for my chip. I run a 740qm which needs 45W at turbo... that's fine for this chip, but when I upgraded to the 920XM, My laptop shut off when it turboed because the chip needs 55W and my laptop is locked at 47W max apparently. SO I spent months trying to figure out how to unlock it and decided on a custom BIOS. But at the time no one had done one for a X505 yet, so I eventually gave up and went back to my 740qm. I was curious if you could possibly unlock the watt and voltage menu on the BIOS? then I could go back to my 920XM and I could get my overclocking on! lol Thanks
